My Business Model

My purpose for starting to raise Shelties for sale was because I loved my own puppy so much that I wanted to have more! But my dad would only permit me to keep one puppy of the first litter, and I had to sell the rest. We decided to keep and raise only "sable and white" puppies because they look like little "Lassies". Because we now had Penny and Brownie and they were mother and puppy, we sold our original sire Copper and replaced him with a new sire we purchased as a puppy whom we named Coppernicus. Coppernicus is a beautiful show quality sire and we are excited to see the first puppies that he throws with Penny and Brownie in June of 2007.

All our dogs eat only all natural dog food and are very healthy. We keep them right up on the back porch of our house so they are very accustomed to being with people and getting a treat and being petted. Coppernicus is the only jumper, but with a simple "down" command, he stops jumping, and instead runs around and tries to get you to play. During whelping, we will keep the puppies and moms in the house and we will feed the moms a special diet of natural and organic canned dog food. Dad thinks I spoil them and as you will see when you purchase one, I do. They are too cute to be left alone during the 6 week weening period so I pet them and care for them constantly.

So far I have only had two litters with our first sire and Penny, so I would not even suggest that we produce champion dogs, but I can say that we do produce pure bred sable and white shetland sheep dogs and that they are very handsome and good pets. I usually get a full white collar on all the puppies and generally I get a few with full white front legs. With our new sire, Coppernicus, I think I may get a little more dark hair in these next litters and I think it adds a nice outline to his white collar.

I am keeping a diary of the progression of the pregnancy and the puppies for you to follow with me over the next 3-4 weeks. You can watch your puppy growing up and even see the moms working with them. If you would like to see a particular picture, send me an email.
