View the puppies!

We are preparing the sewing room for puppies. Penny is very large and tired and we can sometimes feel the puppies kicking in Brownie.
May 24 2007
8:00am : Penny has started her labor and we have her in a box and she is ready to begin her labor. She looks tired but ready to have those puppies.
9:00am : Penny has her first puppy and it is a beautiful girl. Click the link below to see her caring for it.

11:30am : Penny has her second puppy and it is a runt. I get to care for any runts myself because Penny naturally ignores it.
3:30pm : Penny seems to have completed her birth. We have 3 females and 2 males. The runt is a female. Penny is a good mom.
6:30pm : The runt didn't live. She seemed to have a digestion problem and was too weak to live without an umbilical cord. I think it was best that she died so soon since she might have been suffering otherwise. On the right is a picture of two of the puppies. I am going to begin identifying them for purchase and listing them individually here too. With Coppernicus and Penny I now have 2 males and 2 females and they are all 4 feeding well and are chubby.

Today all the puppies are squealing and if we take them away from Penny she barks at us. Penny is cleaned up and the puppies are feeding well. I will log Brownie's birth when she starts her labor, hopefully next week, and will update this birth again when we get good individual pictures of each of the 4 puppies so that we can clearly identify them.

8:00am : Brownie has started her labor and we have her in a pen next to Penny's. This is her first litter and she acted confused when her first puppy was born. After removing the sac from its head, she then just looked at it. After about 5 minutes her instincts kicked in and she completed caring for the puppy and did very well with all the others.
9:00am : Brownie now has her first puppy and if Penny even looks at it, Brownie shows her teeth. She has instantly turned into a very protective mother. We had to put a separation between Penny and Brownie.
10:00am : Brownie now has her second puppy. Another boy!
12:00am : Brownie now has 4 boy puppies! We think this is all she is going to have. Notice all 4 have full white collars. These are
going to be beautiful dogs.

Today we removed all the dewclaws of the puppies. My Dad did it while I helped. The puppies are doing very well and are eating well too. They have very good markings.
